Moore College Interview...

Didn't get asked any tricky theological questions at all...

Some of the questions I was asked were:

  • What excites you about coming to college? What are your fears?
    • learning & having my brain stretched, always wanted to go to boarding school so looking forward to living in an institution. Fears: can my brain be stretched?

  • How did you become a Christian?
    • Spoke of reality I have come to know that Jesus is the far greater treasure than the temporary glitter and sparkle of this world:
Hebrews 11:25 "...choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward."

  • Where do you want to be at the end of college?
    • Wherever God wants me... but this wasn't an acceptable answer. The right answer but not acceptable... so I said "Anywhere" which was still not acceptable. So I said maybe Sydney, maybe overseas, maybe Remote Australia, shared about living in Aboriginal community and perhaps happy to go there... my theory doors open & doors close!

  • How was MTS?
    • joyfully exhausting!

  • What things have you learnt from your experiences that will be useful in future ministry?
    • No matter what life brings you, people still need to hear the gospel to be saved...
    • God uses us in our weakness... he uses the weak...
    • God is very gracious, forgiving others is hard...
    • There is great pleasure in preaching the gospel...

i felt really ripped off - i wanted some toughies!

the hardest was "what's your aim when you preach?" followed by, "how does that change when you're preaching at (they might have said to, by that's by the by) people who've been Christians for 30yrs?"

we spent the rest of the interview chatting about Dutch theologians.
whatever. waste of a day off.

hope it was fun/clarifying/anything but ambivalent!
